This piece was started by creating a textured ground which was built up in layers until the image began to take shape.
Color was added in thin watery layers to define the figure, and then thicker paint consistencies were applied in natural earth-tones. (Ultra Marine Blue, Cobalt Blue, yellow Ochre, etc.)
Chalk pastels were used to finish the process and add definition to the face of the figure.
