Alli Wotring is a New York City based abstract artist.   She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2004 at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts, and has been working in New York as an artist and designer since that time.

Her works are primarily large scale oil based paintings varying from Abstraction to Expressionism.  She is most recognized for her self-proclaimed “knife meets brush” technique.  A concept in which she uses knife work to apply the paint to canvas, and brushwork to blend and create interesting textural effects.     The contrast of these thick gestural knife marks against smooth blended  brushstrokes leaves the viewer with a sense of space and depth.

Her works have been shown internationally, most recently exhibiting in Osaka Japan and New York City.  Additionally, she is featured in several private and public collections within the U.S.
