I've been hard at work already this year, and I'm excited to now provide handmade frames on new 2016 pieces!
Nothing sets off a great work of art like a luxury floating frame. These frames have gained popularity in museums and galleries because they allow the full painting to show from edge to edge...giving the illusion that the painting is "floating" inside the frame. The clean lines and deep sides give a sense of three-dimensionality in the display.

Here is the making of a new large custom piece....enjoy.
I hate to pick favorites, but blue is by far the best in my opinion. Calming and powerful at the same time. What other color can do that?
This piece was started by creating a textured ground which was built up in layers until the image began to take shape.
Color was added in thin watery layers to define the figure, and then thicker paint consistencies were applied in natural earth-tones. (Ultra Marine Blue, Cobalt Blue, yellow Ochre, etc.)
Chalk pastels were used to finish the process and add definition to the face of the figure.

Where do you like to go to unwind?
Add a little indigo to your wardrobe....
Here's a fun project to transform your old white Tee's for a perfect laid back summer look....
All you need is a box of Indigo dye..... (be sure to read the instructions that come in your box...instructions may vary)
Easy to mix plant based powder....add water.... Stir together. Dunk your old shirt in the dye bath. Remove and rinse with cold water. repeat until desired color is achieved. You can get creative and make tie-dye patterns by wrapping rubber bands around your shirt. My favorite is solid dark Indigo but it takes several rounds of dying. When you're done allow your garment to dry and then wash in cold water SEPARATELY.

The best thing about living in NYC is the view. (definitely not the smell) Everywhere I look I find inspiration.....the tall buildings.....the boats on the Hudson River.....or check out the gorgeous sunset tonight.
That's probably why I tend to paint a lot of landscapes and seascapes. But there's also the gritty part of the city that's has its edgy cool factor.....the graffiti on the buildings, the cobblestone streets in the meat packing district, the mosaic tiles in the subways...all of which inspire some of my more abstract pieces.
